MHS Mock Trial 2010

This year was a great year for Elise and her High School Mock Trial Team!  They started their work in the fall of the year and prepared a great case for regionals in February.  The regional competition was held in Charlotte at the Federal Court House.

The team enjoyed two great victories in the first two rounds of the day.  Within the team victories, Elise won individual awards for best attorney and best witness.

After all the scores were in, Mooresville competed against Victory Christian Center in the final round.  MHS won this final round with Elise winning an individual award for best witness and the team was awarded the honor of representing the region in the State Finals.

State Finals were held in March at the Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law - Raleigh.  The team spent a beautiful March Friday touring the Law School, General Assembly Building and the NC Supreme Court.  Then on Saturday, the State Finals competition was held with a total of ten teams from around the state.  The MHS team did a great job presenting the case for the prosecution before Judge Richard A. Elmore of the NC Court of Appeals and then presenting the case for the defense before Judge Paul M. Newby of the NC Supreme Court.

Although the team did not get to go on to the National level, they had a great experience and Elise, along with another team member won individual awards.  Elise - Best Witness.

Welcoming the Beginning of Spring

March was pretty cold, but we did have a couple of nice days.  One afternoon we took advantage of the sunshine to visit a nearby garden and strike a few poses with the cousins.
